Micro Obstacle-Avoidance Radar UCM611
keyword:
Millimeter wave radar series
INTRODUCTION
The UCM611 obstacle avoidance millimeter wave radar is a compact sensor independently developed by Nanoradar. With advanced radar sensing architecture and a highly integrated antenna design, it tracks up to 64 targets per frame and outputs range, relative velocity, azimuth angle, and signal strength for up to 16 targets. Resistant to rain, snow, fog, dust, glare, target color, texture, and ground clutter.
Features:
- Compact and easy to integrate: the single board measures 35×35×7 mm and weighs around 10g, without compromising payload capacity or endurance.
- Highly adaptable and capable of handling complex environments: It maintains stable performance even in challenging conditions such as rain, snow, and smog. Under heavy rainfall, range attenuation is only about 30%, ensuring continuous operation in adverse weather.
- Wire‑level obstacle avoidance: Featuring a dual wide‑angle detection design with 120° horizontal and 120° vertical fields of view, this system significantly reduces blind spots compared to conventional narrow‑field radars, delivering broader coverage and fewer missed detections in scenarios such as tangled wires, densely packed complex obstacles, and close‑range maneuvers.
- Precision anti-interference: Reliable detection of hard-to-see targets such as high-voltage lines and tree branches at a range of 20 meters, addressing the limitations of visual perception.
- Multi‑target, fast response: Detects 64 targets in a single frame and simultaneously outputs up to 16, while directly providing the relative velocity of obstacles to help anticipate collision risks in advance.
- Wide-Temperature-Range Operation: Supports operation across a broad temperature range, ensuring long-term stable performance under exposure to direct sunlight, freezing conditions, and high temperatures.
Applications:
- Low-altitude operational scenarios such as energy inspection, emergency firefighting, surveying and mapping inspection, and environmental monitoring.

ADVANTAGES
![]() | Small size, easy to integrate The single‑board measures 35 × 35 × 7 mm and weighs around 10 g, minimizing impact on payload capacity and flight endurance. It features an integrated package: AoP technology combines the antenna array with the RF chip in a single enclosure, eliminating the need for RF connectors and a separate antenna board, thereby reducing high‑frequency transmission losses. A standardized hardware interface—TTL/RS‑422 at 115,200 baud—ensures plug‑and‑play compatibility with mainstream flight controllers such as APM and PX4. |
![]() | Wire-level obstacle avoidance Dual wide‑angle, low blind‑spot design: With a 120° horizontal and 120° vertical field of view, this dual‑wide‑angle detection system significantly reduces blind spots compared to conventional narrow‑field radars, providing a broader view and minimizing missed detections in scenarios such as tangled wires, densely packed complex obstacles, and close‑range lane changes. Ample early‑warning coverage: Reliable detection within 20 meters, 20 Hz refresh rate, and single‑frame velocity measurement. Detects all objects: Relying on electromagnetic scattering rather than surface texture or color, it reliably detects black insulating cables, silver‑white conductors, and rusted wire fences alike—without selectively missing targets based on differences in cable age, color, or reflectivity. |
![]() | Highly adaptable, capable of handling complex environments All-weather operation: It maintains stable performance even in challenging conditions such as rain, snow, and smog. Under heavy rainfall, range attenuation is only about 30%, ensuring continuous operation in adverse weather. All‑day operation: Independent of ambient lighting, it delivers stable performance even in visually obstructive conditions such as nighttime or backlit scenes—no additional illumination required. Wide temperature range: Designed to operate across an extended temperature spectrum, ensuring long‑term, reliable performance under extreme conditions, including direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, and high heat. |
